The Momentia Activity Group - for those with Memory Loss and their Allies

So what’s to be done for adult day care in Anacortes as we await developments from the Gentry House and the Skagit Adult Day Program?

To begin to meet that need, the Kiwanis Club of Anacortes is partnering with Lighthouse Memory Care to restart the Momentia Activity Group.

The Momentia Activity Group will hold monthly social gatherings and will also meet twice a week as a walking group for short strolls along the Guemes Channel, Tommy Thompson and Ship Harbor trails.

We recognize that there is no cure for dementia or Alzheimer’s; however, studies suggest that strong social ties can help ward off the advance of the disease.   The Momentia Activity Group—made up of people with memory loss and their allies—is one means of keeping all of us connected to each other and active in the community.

In addition to our walking group, everyone is invited to take part in the Momentia Activity Group’s summer events:

  • June 8th 2022. 12:30pm: Secret Cove Lunch and activity (209 T Ave, Anacortes, WA )
  • July 13th 2022.12:30pm-2:30pm: Activity/Party Float at Cap Sante Marina.  Bring a sack lunch and enjoy being at the docks.
  • August 18th 2022.12:00pm-2:00pm: Picnic Lunch at Washington Park. Bring a sack lunch and enjoy the park
  • September 14th 2022: Guemes Ferry and Ice Cream. Time dependent on ferry schedule
